Your tattoo is finished — and now the healing process begins. What you do over the next two weeks will determine how your tattoo heals and how it looks for years to come.
The first 24 hours
Leave the wrap your artist applied in place for a minimum of 4 hours — or as directed. When you remove it, wash gently with clean hands and unscented soap, pat dry, and apply a thin layer of the aftercare product your studio recommends.
Days 2–7: The peeling phase
The tattoo will begin to peel. This is completely normal. Do not pick, scratch, or peel the skin — you risk pulling out ink and creating scarring. Keep the area moisturised but not over-saturated.
What to avoid
During healing: no swimming, no direct sunlight, no soaking in baths. After healing: apply SPF 50 sunscreen whenever the tattoo is exposed to sun. UV light is the primary cause of tattoo fading over time.
Long-term care
Well-moisturised skin holds ink better. Make sunscreen a habit. Come back for your free touch-up within the first year if any areas need refreshing.
